Some Important Points for Students Practicing BharataNatyam
- There are few books recommended that
students can refer for more knowledge.
- Close the eyes and sit 3 minutes in "Padmasana" without doing anything.
- Always keep a Smiling face.
- Do the Bhoomi-Vandana before and after the practice.
- To master the adavus, sit in proper Aramandi position daily with Shoulder,
Elbow and Wrist positions extended.
The knees should be kept sideways and Body erect.
- The Eyes should follow the movements of the hand.
(Yatha Hasta Tatha Drushti), Where the leg moves, the hand follows and where the
hand moves, the eyes follows.
- Attami (Greeva-Bhedas) (Neck-movement) to be practiced properly with grace.
- All the Adavus to be practiced in Slow, Medium, Fast tempos(speed).
ie. Dhruta-Kala, Madhyam-kala and Vilambita-kala.
- Witness as many performances as possible to distinguish and imbibe the grace
and other good points.
- Understand and interpret the meaning of the song properly and identify yourself
with the character portrayed.
- Do the homework/practice daily without fail.
To become something RIYAZ is very important.
- Do not bunk/miss classes for any casual reasons.
- Do not drink cold water and do not sit immediately after the practice.
- Don't eat anything for 30 mins before and after the practice.
